Los Angeles mother delivers 19-lb triplet boys, just shy of world record
Nyla Craft gave birth to three newborn boys in Los Angeles whose combined weight was 19.3 lb, falling short of the Guinness record for heaviest triplets.
A South Los Angeles mother, Nyla Craft, delivered three baby boys—Elio, Elias and Enzo—on August 18, bringing the family’s total to seven children. The newborns, two identical twins and a third brother, weighed a combined 19.3 lb, narrowly missing the Guinness World Record for the heaviest triplet birth, which stands at 22 lb, 12.6 oz. All three were born on their father Marco Bernal’s birthday, and Bernal was seen holding two of the infants while Craft carried the third.
Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center’s neonatology chief Rohit Passi expressed his happiness for the family. The current record for heaviest triplets was set in July 2003 in Englewood, Colorado, by Evan Patrick, Aiden Cole and Lilly Kathryn. The historic heaviest single birth remains a 22-lb baby delivered by Anna Haining Swan in 1879.
