Louisiana softball head coach Alyson Habetz revealed she has breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy while gearing up for the next season.
Alyson Habetz, head coach of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette softball team, disclosed on Instagram that she received a breast cancer diagnosis several months earlier. Since then she has undergone six chemotherapy treatments and expressed gratitude toward Dr. Joseph Breiere and the medical team at Our Lady of Lourdes for their care. Habetz said her main concerns were telling her mother and her players, but she remains confident and untroubled.
She noted the Cajuns finished the 2026 season with a 29-27 record and emphasized that operations at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park will proceed as usual. Looking ahead, she voiced excitement about the upcoming 2027 season and the team's potential for greatness.
