Low influenza vaccination intent reported among Norwegian health workers, especially aides

A recent Norstat web panel of 500 health professionals shows that just over half intend to get the flu shot, with notably lower interest among nursing assistants and auxiliary nurses.

The survey, conducted in week 39, asked a sample of health workers about their plans to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine. Overall, a little more than half said they would be vaccinated. However, the willingness drops markedly among helsefagarbeidere and hjelpepleiere. The director of the Norwegian Directorate of Health, Cathrine M. Lofthus, described the results as insufficient.

Why it matters

Low flu-vaccine uptake among health workers can increase infection risk for patients and strain the health system.
