LS Electric lands $133 million ultra-high-voltage transformer contract for U.S. AI data center

South Korean LS Electric secured a 180 billion-won deal to supply 345-kV transformers for a major U.S. AI data-center project slated for completion by 2030.

LS Electric, a South Korean maker of electrical equipment, disclosed that it has been awarded a 180 billion-won (US$133 million) contract to deliver ultra-high-voltage transformers to a large, unnamed U.S. technology company. The contract covers 345-kilovolt transformers that will be installed in a hyperscale artificial-intelligence data centre slated for completion by 2030. LS Electric highlighted the rapid expansion of power-infrastructure needs across North America, driven by rising electricity consumption from AI and cloud-computing workloads.

Industry forecasts project the U.S. data-center power-infrastructure market to rise at an average 16 percent yearly, climbing from 13 trillion won in 2025 to 56 trillion won by 2035. A company official said the new contract is expected to boost LS Electric’s prospects for additional deals in the North American market. The announcement underscores the firm’s strategic push into the fast-growing U.S. data-center sector.
