Lufthansa's blunt X reply to a payment complaint goes viral

A Lufthansa employee’s terse response to a customer on X attracted 14.7 million views, prompting the airline to issue an apology.

A dissatisfied Lufthansa customer posted on X, urging the carrier to "process Case C-999983-G1X8 IMMEDIATELY!" after an approved payment failed to appear in his account. The airline’s customer-service agent, identified as Flo, responded that the query had already been handled through direct messages on other social channels and that repeating the request on X would not alter the situation. The interaction quickly went viral, accumulating 14.7 million views within a day and drawing mixed reactions; some users condemned the employee’s tone as arrogant, while others argued the customer was needlessly repeating the complaint.

Facing backlash, Lufthansa issued a follow-up post apologising for the previous reply, expressing understanding of the passenger’s frustration and pledging to speed up the resolution. The episode highlights the reputational risks companies face when private service exchanges become public on social media.
