Lula's son lives in upscale Madrid condo amid multiple corruption probes

A Brazilian outlet disclosed that Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, the eldest son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, occupies a €5,800-per-month apartment in the gated La Moraleja area of Madrid. Real-estate analysts calculate that the rent requires a monthly income of at least €17,400, a level that exceeds the earnings of even the top 0.8 % of Spanish workers. The son, known as “Lulinha,” is under three Federal Police investigations concerning alleged corruption, influence-peddling and preferential treatment, including claims he aided businessman Antônio Antunes and a technology firm linked to Dataprev.

Former chief of staff Marco Aurélio Santana is also named in the probes. Fábio Luís founded a Madrid-based tech company, Synapta, in January 2026, which Spanish tax authorities consider inactive. President Lula, speaking on TV Record, affirmed the cases will be treated with seriousness and reiterated that no one is above the law. The report could not identify a legitimate source of income to support the Madrid residence.
