Lululemon founder Chip Wilson files for divorce after two decades of marriage

Chip Wilson, the 71-year-old billionaire who helped build Lululemon into an $11 billion enterprise, is divorcing his spouse of two decades, Shannon “Summer” Wilson, according to court documents. The couple, who wed in 2002, filed for divorce in the British Columbia Supreme Court, and the sealed filings indicate that they never executed a prenuptial agreement. Shannon, 52, was among Lululemon’s earliest hires and served as its founding lead designer before launching the luxury label Kit and Ace; she now owns about 1% of Lululemon, valued at roughly $100 million.

Chip continues to hold 8.6% of the company, a stake close to $1 billion, and has recently been active as a major shareholder, even leading a proxy fight in December 2025. Both partners departed Lululemon more than ten years ago, but the divorce marks the end of their personal and professional partnership.
