Lundberg Family Farms expands rice recall to Walmart, Target and Whole Foods stores

Lundberg Family Farms has broadened its recall of white jasmine rice to include over 27,000 two-pound purple bags sold at Walmart, Target and Whole Foods. The product, manufactured in Butte County, carries best-by dates of Feb. 1 2027 with lot code 260201 or Feb. 2 2027 with lot code 260202. The Food and Drug Administration issued a Class II recall, citing potential contamination with foreign materials that could cause temporary or medically reversible health issues.

Lundberg advises consumers to either throw away the rice or return it for a refund and reports no customer illness to date. The recall affects stores in California and a dozen other states, including Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin. The company says the affected product was removed from shelves months ago and the problem was limited to a single production run.
