Luxury brokers Alexander brothers face possible life terms for extensive sexual assaults
Federal prosecutors are urging life imprisonment for former real-estate brokers Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander after a trial found them guilty of multiple rapes and assaults, including two involving minors.
Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander, former brokers known for catering to ultra-wealthy clients, were found guilty of ten offenses, including two involving minors, following a five-week trial that featured explicit video, vulgar messages and testimony from eleven victims. Prosecutors said the brothers repeatedly enticed women to exclusive parties, Hamptons mansions, New York apartments, an Aspen ski trip and a Caribbean cruise, where they drugged and raped them.
The defense submitted a sentencing recommendation of 15 years, the minimum required, arguing that life imprisonment would be excessively harsh given the brothers' responsibilities as new parents. Judge Valerie Caproni scheduled sentencing for Oct. 27 and will hold a hearing next week on whether the siblings should serve time in the same facility. The case highlights a stark contrast between the brothers' former luxury-real-estate image and the brutal nature of their crimes.
