Luxury florist Flowerbx wins High Court ruling against rival over trademark infringement
Flowerbx Ltd, founded by Whitney Bromberg Hawkings, secured a High Court judgment that Flowers Box London Ltd infringed its trademark.
Whitney Bromberg Hawkings launched Flowerbx Ltd in 2015, building a clientele that includes Victoria Beckham, Julianne Moore and luxury houses such as Louis Vuitton and Dior. After Flowers Box London Ltd, run by Lukasz Gajewski, began operating with a name that closely resembled Flowerbx, customers mistakenly left five-star reviews for the rival and purchased flowers thinking they were buying the original brand. In a High Court case, Recorder Amanda Michaels ruled that Flowers Box London had infringed the Flowerbx trademark and gained an unfair advantage by exploiting its reputation.
The judgment affirmed that the rival’s use of “Flowers Box” caused confusion and entitled Flowerbx to compensation, with the exact damages to be set at a later hearing. The case underscores the challenges luxury service providers face in protecting their brand identity.
