Luxury preventive clinics market pricey health checks amid anti-aging hype

High-end preventive medicine centers in Paris, Switzerland and Belgium charge several thousand euros for extensive health assessments, while many anti-aging products lack scientific backing.

Luxury preventive-medicine centers across Europe are offering comprehensive health evaluations that run into the thousands of euros, with no insurance coverage. Paris clinics charge as much as 3,600 euros, and Swiss providers offer similarly priced packages. In Belgium, a multidisciplinary clinic is preparing to launch in Kraainem, founded by orthopaedic surgeon Ioan Dunca, who believes preventive measures can help people live longer in good health.

The gap between average life expectancy and years lived in good health remains sizable, prompting costly testing that includes blood, urine and epigenetic analyses. Experts such as Fabrizio Buccella dismiss many consumer anti-aging gadgets, like commercial LED masks, as ineffective, and caution that popular supplements often lack proven impact on aging. Dr Ann Lannoye emphasizes that fundamental lifestyle habits—balanced diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, social interaction and reduced toxin exposure—remain the most reliable way to influence health and epigenetics.

Why it matters

Consumers need to understand the high costs and limited evidence behind pricey preventive health services and anti-aging products.
