Macron and Lecornu see steep drops in approval as fuel-price concerns rise
A new poll shows Emmanuel Macron’s approval falling to a historic low of 18%, while Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu also slipped sharply.
According to an online poll conducted by Odoxa-Mascaret for Public Sénat and regional press, Emmanuel Macron’s popularity has dropped to an all-time low, with only 18% of those surveyed rating him as a good president. His prime minister, Sébastien Lecornu, experienced an even sharper decline, receiving a positive assessment from just 24% of respondents. The questionnaire, carried out before Macron’s televised address on fuel issues, revealed that 75% of participants find the announced aid for heavy-road users insufficient, and 62% believe the executive should allocate more money to curb fuel price hikes despite the national deficit. In the broader political landscape, Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella remain the most popular figures, each drawing 35% support, while former prime minister Édouard Philippe, former president François Hollande, and left-wing candidate Raphaël Glucksmann trail behind with 27%, 22%, and 20% respectively.
