Macron to visit Orange air base and meet inaugural national service cohort
President Emmanuel Macron will attend a ceremony at Orange's base aérienne 115 on Tuesday, greeting the first group of volunteers in the new national service.
President Emmanuel Macron will be on the ground at Orange's base aérienne 115 on Tuesday, marking his first visit to the town in three years. The agenda includes a military ceremony at 10:45 a.m., followed by a brief address from the president. He will then meet the first cohort of volunteers who have joined the service national, a program launched on 2 September 2026 for citizens aged 18 to 25 seeking military experience.
The initiative, announced by Macron in November 2025, aims to strengthen national resilience. At 11:30 a.m., officials will brief the president and the press on the service's rollout, after which he will observe training sessions and share a midday meal with the participants. The day will conclude with a private discussion with civil and military leaders in the afternoon.
