Madhya Pradesh to launch state-run Sugam Parivahan Seva bus network on Sept 25
Madhya Pradesh will restart state-run intercity and intracity bus services on September 25, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union minister Nitin Gadkari.
On September 25, Madhya Pradesh will revive state-run bus operations after a two-decade gap, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurating the Sugam Parivahan Seva at BHEL Dussehra Maidan. The service will include intercity routes connecting multiple cities and intracity lines within urban areas, each equipped with GPS for live tracking and panic buttons for emergencies. Drivers are receiving instruction in modern technology, safety standards and the operation of electric and CNG buses at institutes in Indore and Chhindwara, while five regional and 22 district training centres are being established.
Transport minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh said the initiative aims to broaden travel options and enhance passenger safety. The department targets a fleet of 15,000 buses within five years, planning to add between 2,500 and 3,000 new vehicles each year.
