Madrid man receives eleven-year term for brutal attempted murder of flatmate
A Madrid provincial court sentenced Jesús L. M. to eleven years in prison for attempting to kill his female flatmate in a violent assault.
The Madrid provincial court handed down an eleven-year prison term to Jesús L. M. for attempted murder after he violently attacked his female flatmate on 20 February 2024. Prosecutors proved he surprised the woman, exploiting his size advantage to strike her repeatedly on the head, neck and chest, and to strangle her while she lay helpless on the floor. The victim suffered severe injuries—including a subarachnoid haemorrhage, multiple fractures and organ damage—leaving her with permanent neurological deficits and an 85 % disability rating.
The court rejected the defence’s claim of a prior altercation or mental impairment, finding clear intent to kill. In addition to imprisonment, Jesús L. M. received a total disqualification, a 12-year no-contact order, and must pay €352,750 in civil compensation.
