Madshus to close Biri ski plant, shift manufacturing to Czech Republic
Madshus will shut down ski production at its Biri factory and transfer manufacturing to ConsilTech's plant in Nové Město, Czech Republic, impacting 32 employees.
Madshus announced the termination of all ski manufacturing at its historic Biri facility, relocating the operation to ConsilTech's factory in Nové Město, Czech Republic, once the season ends. The decision follows completed negotiations with employee representatives, and the firm will hold personal discussions with the 32 workers whose jobs are at risk. Although mass production moves overseas, Biri will continue to host prototype ski production, product development, sales, marketing, administration and logistics, preserving the site's expertise.
Torstein Myklebostad emphasized the decades-long contributions of many staff members and the company's commitment to assist them. The shift aims to consolidate manufacturing while maintaining the company's innovation capabilities at the original location.
