MAGA influencers lose sway with young male voters ahead of 2026 midterm elections

A new analysis shows that prominent MAGA-aligned influencers have seen their popularity among men aged 18-30 decline, weakening Trump’s grip on this key demographic before the 2026 midterms.

Research indicates that the cultural influencers who energized young men for Donald Trump in 2024 are now losing their appeal, eroding the president’s influence over this segment ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Survey data from the Speaking With American Men project and Puck News reveal drops in favorability for Joe Rogan, Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson, with Rogan’s score falling by 11 points, Musk’s by 14 points and Carlson’s by 12 points.

Andrew Tate posted a net approval index of minus 30 following his arrest on human-trafficking charges. Economic pressures and the war in Iran have risen to the top of young men’s concerns, creating friction between Trump and the online voices that once amplified his message. Additional polls, including the 2026 Young American Men Survey by Cygnal, show that Trump, JD Vance and the Republican Party are now viewed unfavorably by men aged 18-30, and Trump’s overall approval has slipped dramatically since early 2025. Despite this, a Morning Consult poll notes that a large share of Gen Z still relies on content creators for news and trusts their recommendations.
