Magnitude 6.0 earthquake strikes Indonesia's Sumbawa Island
A 6.0-magnitude quake hit Sumbawa Island in Indonesia early this morning, with the epicenter located south of the city of Bima.
The tremor, measured at magnitude 6.0, occurred at a depth of 87 km beneath the Sumbawa region. It was recorded about 140 km south of Bima, a coastal city on the island's eastern side. The Malaysian meteorological agency, MetMalaysia, reported no tsunami risk for Malaysia. Sumbawa lies between the islands of Lombok and Flores in the Lesser Sunda chain.
