Magnitude 6.4 quake rattles Davao Occidental and parts of Mindanao

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Thursday afternoon, shaking Koronadal City and spreading tremors across Mindanao as rain fell.

The quake hit at 4:07 p.m. with its epicenter 42 km south of Balut Island in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and was recorded at a depth of 10 km. Residents of Koronadal City felt the ground sway for several seconds while heavy rains continued. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported the event and warned of possible aftershocks.
