Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar to finalize farmer aid after field survey

Maharashtra declared a drought across 265 of its 358 talukas, affecting roughly three-quarters of the state. Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar outlined a package of 12 relief measures, such as reduced educational fees for students and the initiation of employment guarantee works. She instructed officials to carry out an objective, ground-level assessment before finalising the exact aid for farmers.

During a visit to Marathwada, Pawar inspected conditions in Nanded, where 14 of 16 talukas are drought-affected, and said she will also travel to Parbhani and Beed districts. The declaration aims to address crop loss, drinking-water shortages, and fodder scarcity for livestock. Pawar added that the government will consider any additional difficulties faced by Marathwada students studying in Pune and Mumbai.
