Maharashtra FDA chief denies transfer rumors amid recruitment board overhaul

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said on X that he has not been moved from his post, confirming he will keep fighting unsafe food and fake drugs.

The Maharashtra government formed a 60-day committee to revamp the state recruitment body MPSC, appointing FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe as its secretary. Following the announcement, speculation arose that Mundhe would be shifted from his FDA role. On X, Mundhe categorically denied any transfer, affirming his continued service as the state's food and drug regulator.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to tackling unsafe, substandard, and adulterated food as well as spurious drugs. The committee, chaired by former judge Dilip Bhosale, also comprises IPS officer Laxmi Gautam, ex-IAS officer Ganesh Patil and retired judge P D Naik. State minister Shivendraraje Bhosale conveyed the committee’s formation to aspirants protesting at SM Joshi Bridge. Mundhe, recently highlighted by international media, stressed that effective governance is measured by impact, not headlines.
