Mahindra to sell 51% of aerospace arm NAL to Brazil's Embraer for Rs 5,100 crore
Mahindra disclosed that Embraer will purchase a 51% stake in its aerospace subsidiary NAL for Rs 5,100 crore, with the deal slated to close by Dec. 1, 2026.
In a regulatory filing, Mahindra confirmed an investment agreement with Brazil's Embraer, under which the latter will acquire a majority share of NAL. The transaction, valued at Rs 5,100 crore, will convert NAL from a wholly owned unit to an associate of Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd. Completion is expected on or before Dec. 1, 2026. The move aligns both firms on potential joint projects, including a proposed C-390 assembly line in Nagpur.
Why it matters
The sale gives Embraer a foothold in India's defence aerospace sector and reshapes Mahindra's defence portfolio.
