Mahindra unveils Thar OG SUV with new platform, engines and safety upgrades

Mahindra introduced the Thar OG, updating its iconic three-door lifestyle SUV with a new M_Glyde 4G chassis that promises greater rigidity for on- and off-road performance. The model incorporates DAVINCI Frequency Dependent Damping, a rear PENTALINK suspension, and electric power steering to enhance handling, especially at low speeds. Buyers can choose from a 2.0-litre G20 TGDi petrol engine, a 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel, or the existing D117 CRDe diesel, available in rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive configurations with terrain-specific modes.

Safety is bolstered by six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes and a comprehensive ESP 9.3 package, while higher trims add parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Inside, the SUV receives Truffle Brown leatherette seats, a soft second-row armrest with cupholders, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen, wireless charging and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Prices start at Rs 10.32 lakh for the entry AXT variant, with the top ZXT trim reaching up to Rs 18.99 lakh, and deliveries are slated to begin on October 11, 2026.
