Main suspect in Bihar teen assault wounded during police shootout, hospitalized

In Jamui, Bihar, police injured Nandan Yadav, the main suspect in a molestation and assault case involving a class-10 girl, during an operation to detain him; he is now hospitalized with a leg injury. The original attack, recorded on video, showed a group of youths forcing the girl and her male friend off a scooter, harassing and touching the girl before a chase that lasted 15-20 minutes. After the video spread on social media, authorities traced the victims, filed an FIR, and identified all individuals visible in the clips.

A Special Investigation Team headed by SDPO Deepti Monali is probing the case, with seven to eight people charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. Police are also working to remove the videos online to protect the minor's identity. The incident has drawn criticism from opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, while the National Commission for Women and the Bihar State Women’s Commission have sought action reports.
