Maine Senate race remains neck-and-neck as poll shows narrow lead for Jackson
A new poll finds Democrat Troy Jackson edging incumbent Republican Susan Collins in the Maine Senate contest, with the margin within the survey’s error range.
A recent survey by SRSS of 880 likely voters in Maine, carried out between Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, indicates that former Senate President Troy Jackson holds a modest lead over five-term Republican Senator Susan Collins, but the 3.7-point sampling error leaves the contest effectively even. About four percent of participants have not yet decided whom to support. Among those backing Jackson, the majority view their vote as a statement against Collins, whereas nearly three-quarters of Collins voters say they are voting for her on her own merits.
Collins enjoys higher name recognition, reflected in a 41 % favorability rating, while Jackson is still building awareness, with roughly one-fifth of respondents having heard of him but lacking an opinion. Favorability for Jackson stands at 36 % compared with 42 % unfavorable.
