Major French homebuilder Maisons Pierre placed into court-ordered safeguard procedure

The Paris commercial court has placed Maisons Pierre, a leading French house-building group, under a safeguard procedure.

Maisons Pierre, founded in 1984 and ranked among the top national builders behind Hexaôm, was ordered into safeguard protection by the Tribunal des activités économiques in Paris. The company, headquartered in Vert-Saint-Denis, primarily serves first-time buyers. It previously reported building around 400 homes annually, down from over 1,000 a few years earlier.

Why it matters

The move signals deepening stress in France's housing market and could affect many first-time homebuyers.
