Major Hungarian banks schedule October outages affecting transfers, cards and ATMs

Five Hungarian banks will carry out planned IT maintenance in October, causing temporary interruptions to instant transfers, mobile banking, card payments and ATM services.

Customers of OTP Bank, Erste Bank, K&H Bank, MBH Bank and MagNet Bank should expect brief service interruptions in October as each institution performs scheduled IT upgrades. The central instant-payment platform operated by GIRO Zrt. will be upgraded on 18 October, prompting a suspension of instant transfers between 1 am and 3 am for OTP, Erste and K&H. K&H also plans a longer outage from the night of 17 October to early afternoon on the 18th, affecting internet and mobile banking but leaving ATM withdrawals and card payments functional.

MBH Bank lists three maintenance periods that could reject instant forint transfers and QR-code payments, while MagNet Bank warns of possible ATM and card-payment disruptions from midnight to 4 am on 18 October. Customers are advised to complete time-sensitive transactions outside these windows and to verify any failed payments after the outages.
