Major Oslo subway shutdown leaves central stations closed for four days
A large portion of Oslo's metro system will be out of service for four days, with all central stations closed and no trains running through the city centre.
From Thursday to Sunday, 63 of the network's 101 stations will be inaccessible, including every stop in the downtown area. The suspension means the metro will not operate through Oslo's core during that period. This is the most extensive closure in terms of station count in recent years, surpassing earlier disruptions for upgrades at Majorstuen and the Brynseng-Hellerud tunnel.
Why it matters
The closure disrupts daily travel for thousands of Oslo residents and visitors, requiring alternative transport arrangements.
