Majority of U.S. Voters Back Government Limits on Healthcare Prices
A recent poll shows 59% of American voters favor government action to cap healthcare costs, while 24% worry it could limit access.
A new Center Square Voters Voice Poll by Noble Predictive Insights, carried out between Aug. 12 and 16 with 2,533 registered voters, reveals that 59% of Americans think the government should limit healthcare prices to make care more affordable. By contrast, 24% believe such controls could curb access to treatment, and 13% are unsure. The sample included equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats and a sizable group of independents, with Democrats showing the highest support at 66%.
Higher-income respondents (over $100,000) were slightly less supportive than lower-income voters, and older adults were marginally less likely to favor price caps than younger adults. Pollster Mike Noble said voters are seeking economic relief and want to curb what they see as excessive medical company pricing.
