Malaysia announces one-time RM1,500 aid for 1.3 million civil servants
The Malaysian government will give a one-off RM1,500 payment to 1.3 million civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, plus RM750 to all pensioners and certain religious staff.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disclosed that the 2027 Budget includes a single RM1,500 disbursement for civil servants at Grade Utama B and lower, covering contract workers as well. All government pensioners, including veterans, will receive RM750. Additionally, 70,000 religious educators and officials such as imams and tok siaks will each get a one-time RM750 payment. The payouts are scheduled before Aidilfitri and the 70th Merdeka anniversary.
Why it matters
The aid aims to support a large segment of Malaysia's public sector and religious workers ahead of major national celebrations.
