Malaysia boosts civil servant maternity leave and raises minimum pension in 2027 budget
The 2027 budget will extend maternity leave for civil servants to 490 days and increase the minimum monthly pension to RM1,350.
Under the new budget, civil servants will be entitled to up to 490 days of maternity leave throughout their careers. The government also allocates RM20 million to improve childcare centres at its facilities. Additionally, the minimum pension will rise from RM1,000 to RM1,350, benefiting about 59,000 retirees, veterans and pension recipients. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the reforms as support for the civil service workforce.
