Malaysia calls on Vietnamese CEOs to join high-tech and green manufacturing surge
Malaysia invited Vietnamese investors to explore opportunities in high-tech and sustainable manufacturing as bilateral trade reached US$22 billion last year.
During a business forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Malaysia's consul general, Firdauz Othman, appealed to Vietnamese CEOs to tap the country's rapid growth in high-technology manufacturing and environmentally friendly industries. He noted that Malaysia's attraction of substantial high-tech investment creates integration prospects for Vietnamese supply-chain players, especially in semiconductors, electronics and precision engineering.
The Malaysian government is offering targeted incentives for green manufacturing, including a "Green Lane" approval process for large projects. Trade figures revealed that last year bilateral commerce hit US$22 billion, with Malaysia exporting US$12.94 billion of electronics, chemicals and machinery to Vietnam and importing US$8.65 billion of Vietnamese products. The event was organized by the Malaysian consulate with support from MATRADE and the Malaysia Business Chamber, and participants were encouraged to liaise with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority for tailored support.
