Malaysia completes 41 of 60 anti-corruption initiatives under new national strategy

Malaysia has finished 41 of the 60 sub-strategies in its 2024-2028 National Anti-Corruption Strategy, signalling steady progress in governance reforms.

Senior director Datuk Idris Zaharudin of the MACC’s National Governance Planning Division said Malaysia has completed 41 of the 60 sub-strategies outlined in the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) for 2024-2028. Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the strategy replaces the earlier anti-corruption plan with a phased, measurable framework covering legislative reforms, system enhancements, education and private-sector involvement.

Notable milestones include the Border Control and Protection Agency Act 2025, the Government Procurement Act 2025, the Parliamentary Services Act 2025, and amendments to the Immigration and Whistleblower Protection Acts. The initiative also introduces job-rotation policies, a demerit-based performance evaluation system, and clarified audit-unit roles. Two digital dashboards—r-NACS for internal monitoring and d-NACS for public access—provide real-time tracking of progress. The next phase will focus on sustaining implementation, strengthening coordination, and ensuring reforms translate into transparent, efficient public services.

Why it matters

The reforms aim to curb corruption, boost public trust and improve Malaysia's standing in global integrity rankings.
