Malaysia's men's hockey team advanced to the Asian Games final after a 2-1 semi-final victory over South Korea at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium. South Korea responded through Lee Gang San, and later removed goalkeeper Kim Jae Hyon to add an extra outfield player, but failed to capitalize on the open net.
The win satisfied national coach Brendon Carolan's Key Performance Index of reaching the final, marking Malaysia's third appearance after silver medals in 2010 and 2018. Their opponents will be India, who secured their place by beating arch-rivals Pakistan 4-3 in the other semi-final.
