Malaysia lifts retail prices of RON97 and RON95 gasoline by 15 sen

The Ministry of Finance announced that, for the period 8-14 October, the retail price of RON97 will be RM5.15 per litre and RON95 without subsidy will be RM4.67 per litre.

Malaysia's Ministry of Finance has updated the retail rates for unleaded gasoline, setting RON97 at RM5.15 per litre and RON95 without subsidy at RM4.67 per litre for the week of 8-14 October. The change reflects continued high world crude prices, with Brent crude hovering near USD100 a barrel, despite a recovery in West Asian oil flows. Diesel prices without subsidy are unchanged at RM5.27 per litre.

Subsidised fuels, including BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel, continue to be sold at RM1.99 and RM2.10 per litre, while the subsidised petrol and diesel control schemes remain at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre. The government urges consumers to use fuel more efficiently to preserve supplies and ease subsidy pressures.

Why it matters

Higher fuel prices affect household budgets and the cost of transport across Malaysia.
