Malaysia moves to multi-operator MV15 inspection centres to boost vehicle-owner access

At a launch event in Sungai Buloh, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the government will no longer limit the number of MV15 vehicle inspection operators, inviting any firm that meets set criteria to apply for a licence. This follows the termination of the previous single-operator concession on 31 August 2024 and introduces a multi-operator framework with fees that remain standardised by the authorities. The first centre under this model, backed by Carsome Academy, can handle about 90 inspections per day and links inspection results directly to the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Carsome reports a 99 percent first-time pass rate and highlights that its inspectors are certified to Malaysian Skills Certificate Level Three. The policy aims to give vehicle owners more choice and improve convenience while encouraging competition based on service quality, transparency and efficiency.
