Malaysia's Bank Rakyat Teams Up with Alibaba Cloud and Lenovo to Boost Fintech and AI
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a partnership between Bank Rakyat, Alibaba Cloud and Lenovo to enhance digital, AI and fintech services for Malaysian SMEs.
In Shanghai, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim took part in a strategic session with Bank Rakyat, Alibaba Cloud and Lenovo to explore joint initiatives in digital technology, artificial intelligence and financial technology. He welcomed Bank Rakyat’s digital transformation and Lenovo’s role as an ecosystem partner for the bank’s Fintech Community Hub. The cooperation is intended to provide technology sharing, expertise and experience that will benefit Malaysia’s micro, small and medium enterprises, the cooperative movement and local entrepreneurs, while delivering more inclusive digital services.
Anwar emphasized that each partnership must create spillover value for the national economy and improve competitiveness. His visit also features a high-level meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Hangzhou and a keynote address at the WorldSkills Conference 2026. Bilateral trade between China and Malaysia has reached over US$113.82 billion this year.
