Malaysia's HBA abandons budget wishlist after years of ignored housing reforms

Honorary secretary-general Chang Kim Loong said the decision reflects frustration over the lack of meaningful response to calls for stronger homebuyer safeguards, tougher enforcement, and action against sick or abandoned housing projects.
He stressed that the association still sees serious problems in the sector but views repeated, ignored recommendations as a waste of effort. HBA contends that the government should focus on enforcing existing laws rather than creating new regulatory layers.
