Malaysia's stock market stays steady thanks to clear government policies and foreign investment

Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan said Malaysia's equity market remains stable, citing transparent policies and strong foreign fund inflows.

In a recent Ministers' Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan asserted that Malaysia's stock market continues to be stable even as global geopolitics evolve. He explained that the stability stems from the government's transparent policies and initiatives designed to encourage foreign capital flows. The remarks came after opposition MP Awang Hashim asked whether a market decline exceeding RM1 billion could harm the economy and what might cause investors to withdraw.

Amir Hamzah highlighted that robust foreign direct investment inflows, reflected in approved investment volumes, underpin the market's steadiness. He cautioned that stock prices will naturally fluctuate due to worldwide events, but the underlying policy environment remains supportive. The minister's comments aim to reassure both domestic and international stakeholders about Malaysia's investment climate.
