Malaysia's tax collection rises to RM129.6 billion in first half of 2026
Tax revenue in Malaysia reached RM129.6 billion for the first half of 2026, up from the same period a year earlier.
Malaysia recorded RM129.6 billion in tax revenue for the first half of 2026, an increase from RM119.1 billion collected in the comparable period of the previous year, according to Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong. The boost was driven by higher corporate income tax payments and stronger sales and service tax collections, notably in the food and beverage, services, insurance and logistics sectors. Liew emphasized that steady macro-economic growth continues to positively influence tax receipts.
He also highlighted recent tax-reform measures as a factor in improving collection efficiency and fostering investor confidence. The government reaffirmed its commitment to achieving the RM343.1 billion target for the entire 2026 fiscal year. The remarks were made during a parliamentary question-and-answer session.
