Malaysia tapped as Country of Honour for next Harbin Expo after Kampung Good success

After a successful showing of Kampung Good products at this year’s Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair, Malaysia received an invitation to be the Country of Honour at the next edition of the fair. Nga Kor Ming, Malaysia’s Housing and Local Government Minister, said the invitation was conveyed after 39 Malaysian booths displayed locally made items, underscoring the growing overseas potential of village entrepreneurs.

He highlighted the opportunity to reach China’s 1.4 billion consumers and create jobs, stressing that only products with Kampung Good certification—and preferably halal certification from Jakim—will be selected. The Kampung Baru Expo held at Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre has attracted nearly 70,000 visitors and recorded more than RM150,000 in sales in two days, with expectations to exceed RM300,000 by the end of the three-day event. The ministry pledged continued support to maintain quality standards for the international showcase.
