Malaysia to integrate real-time data from Interpol, police and tax agencies into new immigration system
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the upcoming National Integrated Immigration System will pull live data from Interpol, police, LHDN and PTPTN to enhance border screening.
Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail detailed a transition from one outlet MyIMMs system to a new National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe). The revamped platform will merge live feeds from Interpol, police forces, the tax authority (LHDN) and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) to strengthen preliminary screenings and risk assessments of travelers. Additional data from the transport ministry will also be incorporated, according to a parliamentary reply.
In the longer term, the ministry aims to develop an AI-based national border control system that can operate autonomously, delivering real-time information flow and round-the-clock monitoring of land and maritime borders. The plan is still being refined, and the system is expected to evolve as technology and security needs change.
Why it matters
Integrating live data will give Malaysia faster, more accurate tools to screen entrants and protect its borders.
