Malaysia to launch TVET industrial training scheme with guaranteed jobs
The Human Resources Ministry announced a new industrial training programme that will pair TVET students with companies offering temporary work that converts to permanent positions.
At a media event in Sungai Buloh, the Human Resources Ministry unveiled an industrial training programme aimed at boosting TVET graduate employability. The initiative, developed after visits to Bangkok and Singapore, will enable Malaysian students to study at partner centres such as Singapore's Institute of Technical Education while hosting foreign students at the Advanced Technology Training Centres. Companies needing specific competencies will hire trainees on a temporary basis, with the promise of permanent employment after they complete the training.
The programme also introduces a standardized starting basic salary of RM2,500 for graduates and semi-skilled workers, applied uniformly across all regions. Ramanan highlighted that the latest data shows a 98 % employability rate for TVET graduates, up from about 95.5 % the previous year, attributing the improvement to stronger industry cooperation.
