Malaysia to refer questionable online health ads to regulator, says Communications Minister

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said complaints about online health advertisements that may breach rules will be forwarded to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for review.

He stated that complaints alleging breaches of advertising rules or misleading content will be sent to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for assessment and possible enforcement. Fahmi shared the decision in a Facebook post, highlighting the regulator's role in addressing the issue.

He expressed gratitude for the open dialogue, saying the perspectives of those directly involved are vital for understanding on-the-ground challenges. The minister indicated that the referral aims to ensure compliance and protect the public from deceptive health promotions.
