Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid to Lead Five-Day Trade and Education Mission in China

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid will travel to China from Oct 12-16 for meetings on trade, investment, technology and vocational education.

Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister Ahmad Zahid will embark on a five-day working trip to China beginning Oct 12, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, technology and TVET. In Beijing, he is scheduled to meet Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang at the Great Hall of the People on Oct 15, and also hold talks with Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong and several Chinese enterprises.

The delegation will later travel to Tianjin for the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, where Zahid will give a keynote speech and attend a dinner hosted by Education Minister Huai Jinpeng. The visit seeks to build on the Malaysia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussions from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s September meeting with Premier Li Qiang, covering Belt and Road projects, AI, digital economy, renewable energy and regional stability.

Why it matters

The mission aims to boost Malaysia-China economic ties and advance vocational training cooperation.
