Mamata Banerjee to Join INDIA Bloc Meeting on September 30 Over SIR Controversy

Mamata Banerjee, leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, and MP Abhishek Banerjee will participate in the INDIA bloc gathering scheduled for September 30. The agenda centers on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which Banerjee claims was imposed to capture Bengal and has struck off the names of 92 lakh voters in the state. She noted that the TMC succeeded in restoring 32 lakh names through the courts, but many remain excluded, and she highlighted a national impact of nearly 13 crore voters.

The meeting will also feature CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, reflecting an uncommon coalition among rival opposition parties. Additionally, Banerjee raised concerns about the arrest of Congress’s Milan Pradhan, linking it to past Nandigram protests.
