Man accused of killing nursing officer after false shopping promise, body still missing
Police say Satyaprakash strangled his live-in partner Snehlata and dumped her into the crocodile-filled Pachnada river, where her body has not been recovered.
Snehlata, a Bihar-born nursing officer, disappeared on October 8 after her partner Satyaprakash promised a shopping trip to Kanpur. Police allege that he strangled her and cast her body from a bridge into the crocodile-infested waters of Pachnada, a five-river confluence in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, believing the animals would destroy any evidence. During interrogation, Satyaprakash reportedly admitted the killing and the disposal method.
A joint search involving the National Disaster Response Force was launched at the river, but no remains have been found. The couple had a ten-month-old son, and disputes over the child and Snehlata’s demand for marital recognition intensified prior to the disappearance. Her relatives arrived from Nalanda, Bihar, urging authorities to pursue the maximum penalty, while investigators work to confirm the exact sequence of events.
