Man accused of setting toddler ablaze and burying body in Gujarat village
Police say Ashok Raval allegedly doused his two-and-a-half-year-old son, Navghan, with petrol and set him on fire before burying the body at a local cremation ground.
In Suigam, Vav-Tharad district, authorities allege that Ashok Raval poured petrol over his two-and-a-half-year-old son, Navghan, and ignited him between 1 pm and 2 pm on October 13. The child was subsequently taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. To conceal the circumstances, Raval and relatives buried the corpse at a communal cremation ground rather than allowing an autopsy.
The uncle, Babu Raval, filed a complaint after learning of the act, prompting police to excavate the site in the presence of local officials, including the mamlatdar. The investigation has led to a murder charge and an additional charge for destroying evidence.
