Man admits to drugging and raping wife in two-decade abuse campaign

In Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, a man in his 60s from Stockport entered guilty pleas to a series of sexual crimes against his wife spanning more than two decades, from 2004 through 2025. Charges included rape, sexual assault, drug-facilitated sexual abuse and non-consensual distribution of intimate photographs. He broke down in tears while addressing the court, and his wife sat in the gallery with relatives.

Assistant chief constable Rick Jackson of Greater Manchester Police emphasized ongoing specialist support for the victim and urged anyone affected by drug-facilitated abuse to seek help. Twelve additional defendants have denied separate accusations involving the same woman, and a jury has been empaneled as the prosecution prepares its case.
