Man airlifted to hospital after being shot on Central Coast

A 37-year-old man was shot in the hand and torso outside a home on Lakedge Avenue in Berkeley Vale and was flown to hospital in serious condition.

Early Wednesday morning, a 37-year-old man was shot in the hand and torso outside a residence on Lakedge Avenue in Berkeley Vale, roughly 60 km north of Sydney. NSW Ambulance responded, treating him for multiple injuries before he was air-lifted to hospital in serious condition. Police have launched an investigation and are looking for the driver of a GWM 4WD ute with roof racks and a roll bar that was in the area at the time.

This shooting comes shortly after two mistaken-identity attacks in the region, one involving a university student in Glen Alpine and another that killed a business owner in Merrylands West. Authorities have not yet determined whether the latest incident is linked to the ongoing gang conflict in Sydney. The search for suspects continues as police gather evidence.
